Problem Based Learning Task

Students have been assigned to an Investigation Group and math problem blog, where they will engage in online discussions (outside of the instructional day) prior to teaming up to complete a math investigation. They will participate within their group blog to provide support, suggestions and strategies on how to approach their assigned math investigation.

Once students have had the opportunity to participate within their blog to prepare for their meeting session, they will then be given class time to begin their collaborative task to problem solve the math investigation onto chart paper as a team.

Students who have completed and solved their math investigation will then choose a media presentation format (podcast, photostory) to share their findings and demonstrate their understanding, as well as connections to the relevance of their new learning. Their choice of presentation will then be posted within their group blog for further discussion and reflection.

Good luck to all of the groups :o)

when doing a problem solving question you can read it over then underline all important information. You could also write down the main points and what the question asks you to do. Lastly you can draw a diagram to help you visualize the question, these strategies will definetly help you to problem solve through the question. Ravi

Just like Ravi said its a good idea to highlight main points and underling all the important facts because when you do the question it will be a lot easier to do, also you would have a greater chance to get that question right. Valeria:)

Sometimes even if you use Info, What, Show and State you might not completely understand the question. So you could try answering the question the way you think is correct. The you could ask a friend/classmate to check that you are correct. If your friend/classmate says that you are wrong you then ask them to explain how you got the question wrong and to explain the question to you that way it is more likely for you to reanswer it correctly
