A cooperative problem based learning environment where students will be engaged in blog discussions, inclass activities and reflections directed towards math investigations.
The math investigation program is very awesome. I wanna ask one thing. Are we only going to get 1 question because some of the questions were on the EQAO testing preparation sheets, so most people already knows the answer of their problem. Eric
Eric has posed a good point. As many of us have learned this year, we each have strengths and areas we need to improve upon. Giving students the opportunity to view and try out possible strategies to solve a problem online or print will hopefully engage all learners in choosing how they want to apply their understanding in a format which best allows them to express themselves.
I agree because even though you have gotten a question right in a math book or on a test. It does not hurt to look over it again and to share the strategy's you might have used. To get to the answer and help others understand the question if they have had trouble with it. jahkobi
• I think that the math blog is a great idea! It lets others learn new strategies to figure out the question. And I agree that it is ok to look over your question and see how you figured out your answer. I hope this blog turns out to be a great success! :P Alejandra
I agree with Alejandra because, the Mat blog actually lets other students share their strategies for a question and if any other students is having trouble understanding something they can always use these strategies. :) Valeria
Great dialogue happening in this section everyone. Eric, the first Math Investigation Task is organized one challenge per group. At the end of the group reflection, other groups will be invited to provide feedback or extensions to ideas presented. The second Math Investigation Task will be one challenge where each group will have to come to a creative and effective solution. Each team will then have to present and justify their findings within the blog. The third challenge will be for each group to design their own Math Investigation Task which will be assigned for another team. Looking forward to reading about your math thinking and discussions. Keep up the great work!
